2013 Russian River Cruise

Day 5, 6/5/2013. The first of many locks.
Mandrogy. Only Vodka in this store.
Don and I were able to do some tasting.
Some beautiful homes. Very much different than the city condo living.
Day 6, 6/6/2013 Kizhi Island
The Church of the Transfiguration, 1714, all wood, no nails 120ft high.

Belltower on left, summer church in the center and
winter church foreground-center. The main/summer church was too hard to heat!
A tour of the bridge. The captain on the right only spoke Russian
Well, I only spoke English!
Didn't look too modern, but they had GPS with nautical maps, and autopilot.
The main economy was lumber. Much of it went to China.
Day 6, 6/7/2013
Typical river scene. Boat houses along the river.
Then, a beautiful summer cottage.
Kirillo-Belozersky monastery, founded in 1397

They were very proud of their art.
A music and art show for us.
Their computer lab.
Our guide was a junior who English skills were astonishing.
Plain but functional
Walk to school, change shoes, hang up your coat and go to class.
Day 8, 6/8/2013
City of Yaroslava
The city center. No liter anywhere!!!!!
A WW2 memorial.
The Russians have wonderful parks everywhere.
Visit to the Governors house.
The young woman on the right was the governors daughter,
beautiful, and spoke perfect English
The governors office.
Priceless art.
They showed us how to dance.
The end of another beautiful day.
