The Grand Palace
I've never seen so much gold!
The blue background is small chips of glass.
My other home.
Our wonderful guide Jane, centered between our dear friends
Karen & Eric
This 4'10" lady would walk directly into traffic and stop traffic so we could cross.
Jane was a wonderful guide!
A wild ride on the Chao Phraya River. The river is the
lifeblood of the city.
It's used for transportation, tourism, drinking water and
sewage disposal.
The engines are loud and large. This V-8 with transmission attached
is connected to a long shaft ending in a propeller.
Steering involves
pivoting the entire engine vertically and horizontally.
Thse are called "tuk tuks" cause that's what they sound like.
It's a 2-stroke, driver and 2 passenger, 3-wheeled motor bike.
Very
maneuverable in traffic! They would cause road rage here!
This is one of many flower markets.
It was several blocks
long, on both sides of the street. No personal space though.
Automobile manufacturing is a major industry in
Bangkok.
There are 17 different automobile factories in Thailand.
This is a view of the port as we arrived in Bangkok.
As we were leaving, these two ships had
docked and were continuously
loading cars.
They simple drive them onto the ship, then shuttled the
drivers back to get more.
The Harvest Leader is 600' long, 100' high, 71,000 tons and carries about 10,000 cars.
This is but a portion of
the cars and trucks on the pier.
