Sail Planes

Revised November 2015

This was my first glider ride. It is a Schleicher ASW 12 (I think). It was  highly
maneuverable, and my first (and last) experience of flying a plane inverted.

A very tight fit, especially with the parachutes. I was in Phoenix AZ for an LG&E project circa 1980.

This is the instrument panel. Other than the oil pressure gauge, the most important
instrument was a piece of string taped directly to the front window. It easily told you
if you were going straight through the air or side slipping (creating excessive drag.)

This, I believe is the same make but different model, but was near Polk City Florida in the '07's
