During my time working with DEC equipment, one of the field engineers,
arranged a flight in this DC-9 simulator. This would have been sometime
in the early '80s.
The third position (right rear) was where the instructor
was able to introduce various flight emergencies.
The instrument panel is an exact mock up of the real thing. The fellow
in the right
seat, helped me keep above stall speed, but I was able to land it several
times.
This is what it looked like from the outside.
The large hydraulic rams made it feel like the real thing.
The brains behind it was a DEC VAX, very similar to the one we were
running at work.
